Two Photography Workshops, Two Different Portraits

By Andrew Mason

Mike Varey came along to two of our workshops in December – the Flash Photography Workshop and the Portrait Photography Workshop. It’s a good combination of courses if you want to get a well rounded view of both the creative and technical aspects of creating portraits on location, and that’s what Mike wanted to learn.

Mike is an experienced photographer, specialising in judo photography with his work regularly published in national magazines. Photographing judo not only requires good photographic skills, but also requires knowledge of the technical aspects of judo in order to capture the action at the right moment. Sounds daunting!

So, a couple of Mike’s images below. The first from the Portrait Photography Workshop, and the second from the Flash Photography Workshop.
